Confederation of Co-operative Housing – UK annual conference

Chesford Grange, Kenilworth, Warwick CV8 2LD, UK

May 11, 2018 - May 13, 2018

People and Power

11th & 12th May 2018

People in the UK are beginning to say – enough is enough – its time for people and communities to run things.

On the one hand, the lack of housing options for people – caused by problems built up over decades and decades – has meant that people are starting to do it for themselves – forming community-led housing groups of varying shapes and sizes. And the UK national and local government is starting to respond to this groundswell.

On the other hand, the tenant movement, thunderstruck following the horrors of the Grenfell fire in London, is starting to call for a Voice for Tenants – quite rightly saying that in 2018, how can it possibly be right that no one speaks for tenants?

Ultimately, it’s about people and power – should people have power to make things happen in their neighbourhoods?

The 24th Annual Conference of the Confederation of Co-operative Housing is an opportunity for the co-operative housing sector to come together to discuss how people are going to change things. The Conference this year is being held at Chesford Grange, Kenilworth between Leamington Spa and Warwick. All the accommodation and conference rooms are within the same building.

Chesford Grange Hotel sits in the heart of Warwickshire, set amidst 17 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. It is a bright and modern hotel with full disability access, free Wi-Fi, free parking and is Green Tourism Accredited. Delegates will have access to the spa and health club for the duration of the conference.

It has easy access to the Midlands’ motorway network, is accessible from the M40 and M69 and is only a few miles away from both Warwick and Leamington Spa rail stations. For those travelling by train, we will run a free shuttle service from Leamington Spa on the Friday night.

As usual, there will be a fantastic range of practical workshops, the ever popular Blisstocracy quiz on Friday night and live entertainment after the Gala Dinner on the Saturday night. Please note that this year, the conference will close after breakfast on Sunday 13th May.

The closing date for applications is Friday 27th April. We will require full conference fees to be paid prior to the conference. The fee includes two nights accommodation, attendance at all sessions, breakfast, lunch and evening meals, and entertainment!
