ICA Global Cooperative Conference – New Delhi, India
In November 2024, India will host the Global Cooperative Conference – the world’s largest gathering of cooperators from around the world. Delegates will explore the role of cooperatives in creating a collective, peaceful and prosperous future. In addition, the international conference kicks off the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives.
The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), which is the voice of cooperatives worldwide, is the conference organizer. Furthermore, New Delhi is home to the headquarters of the ICA’s Asia Pacific office.
Conference hosts are the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative (IFFCO) and the 18 ICA member organisations in India, who together represent close to 800,000 cooperatives and 290 million cooperators.
The theme is Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All, which celebrates cooperatives as people-centred, purpose-led and progress-driven enterprises. The event will include inspirational speakers and provocative panel debates. In addition, delegates will co-create cooperative visions and strategies during multiple break-out sessions.
In addition, the conference officially launches the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC2025) in the presence of global leaders, academics and practitioners. The IYC takes the theme “Cooperative Build a Better World”, to inspire cooperators worldwide to work together to strengthen the international cooperative movement.
Alongside the Conference will be the ICA General Assembly, where global members of the ICA formally meet according to articles of association to approve financial statements and strategy.
The ICA was founded in 1895. It unites, represents and serves 3 million cooperative enterprises worldwide and its more than 1 billion cooperative members.
