Final Keynote Speech of Outgoing ICA Housing President, David Rodgers

David Rodgers, former ICA Housing President, gave his final keynote speech at the 30th anniversary event of Búseti Co-operative Building Association in Iceland on 24 October 2013.
Entitled ‘Cooperative housing – a Sustainable and Competitive Solution in Todays Housing Markets‘, David Rodgers starts by talking about the origins of the global co-operative movement and its principles and values. His speech goes into detail about the birth of the housing co-operative movement and the work of the International Co-operative Alliance Housing Sectoral Organisation [now Co-operative Housing International], our four projects for the International Year of Co-operatives and the different types of housing co-operative in the global movement. He shows some great examples of housing co-operatives from all over the world, shows the conference how to encourage investors to get on board to provide the funds to create more co-operative housing, and concludes with how co-operatives can build a better, and fairer world.
